Disney's announced that Dreamfinder is returning to EPCOT, and he's bringing Figment with him. The news dropped during the Disney Experiences showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa, and it's a big deal for fans who've been missing the dynamic duo.
If you've been around EPCOT in recent years, you've definitely seen Figment around. The purple dragon's been doing meet-and-greets in the Imagination! pavilion and showing up on festival merchandise and merchandise throughout the park. He's been a constant presence, especially since that viral popcorn bucket in 2022. But Dreamfinder's been largely absent since the original Journey into Imagination closed in 1998, making this reunion something fans have been hoping for.
Why This Matters
These two characters represent a specific era of EPCOT that a lot of longtime fans connect with. Dreamfinder was the whimsical guide who introduced guests to Figment when Journey into Imagination first opened in 1983. For 15 years, Dreamfinder was the heart of that attraction, encouraging curiosity and wonder with his catchphrase "one little spark." He wasn't just Figment's friend, he was the inspiration for imagination itself.
Figment, on the other hand, has never really left EPCOT. He's been woven into the park's identity since day one as the embodiment of imagination and creativity. But without Dreamfinder, something felt incomplete for a lot of guests.
Disney hasn't released details yet about what this reunion will actually look like or when it'll happen. More information is coming down the line, but the announcement itself signals that Disney's listening to fans who've been vocal about wanting these characters back together.
Thomas Mazloum, Disney Experiences Chair, acknowledged that directly: "We know how important this is to you. We've heard you, and this is one more way we're putting you in the center of everything we do."
