Disney just announced two brand-new attractions headed to Piston Peak, a Cars-themed land coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom. The news came out at D23 2026, where Imagineer Jason Grandt and Michael Hundgen, Vice President Creative for Walt Disney World, shared details about what guests can expect.
What's coming to Piston Peak
The two attractions are Cars Ridge Run Rally and Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin-Along.
Cars Ridge Run Rally is a racing experience that'll take you through a course inspired by America's national parks. You'll climb up Piston Peak itself, hit an icy, snow-covered summit, then plummet down a camelback descent and navigate a geyser field. The whole thing wraps up with a sprint past Lightning McQueen and Mater, who'll be commentating the race.
Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin-Along features the "Diva of Demolition" from Cars 3 as a massive school-bus-sized animatronic hosting a demolition derby celebration.
The ride tech is actually new
Here's what's genuinely interesting: Cars Ridge Run Rally will use completely new ride vehicles that aren't simulating an off-road experience, they're actually doing it. The vehicles have real tires and suspension that'll react to the terrain, so you'll feel every bump, drop, and rock underneath you. This is a different approach than what you're used to in theme parks.
How Piston Peak fits into Frontierland
Piston Peak National Park is being designed using "Parkitecture," an architectural style developed by the National Park Service that makes structures blend naturally with their surroundings. The land will include a visitor lodge, ranger headquarters, trails, and more, all set within the Cars universe.
Imagineers are building this so it connects with Frontierland's storytelling tradition. The land draws inspiration from the Rocky Mountains and the American frontier, with towering trees, snowcapped mountains, waterfalls, and geysers. Trees will screen off the rally from the rest of Frontierland and Liberty Square, and the mountains and geysers will integrate with nearby attractions like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Construction is already underway, and more details will come as the project moves forward.
