While Disney and Pixar’s Hoppers is busy charming audiences in theaters, the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail over in Disney California Adventure’s Grizzly Peak area has transformed into a living, breathing extension of the film. For a limited time, you can step into Mabel’s world with Mabel’s Seek & Find, an interactive scavenger hunt that turns every corner of this beloved wilderness playground into a detective mission.
Here’s how it works: upon arrival, you’ll borrow a pencil and select your adventure from four different keepsake maps—will you follow King George (voiced by the hilarious Bobby Moynihan), the Insect Queen, Ellen Bear, or Tom Lizard? Each path sends you deep into the redwoods to explore landmarks like the Millenium Tree, Hoot-N-Holler Logs, and the Cliff Hang Traverse Rock. Your first stop might be the Weather Station to catch a temperature reading, or perhaps you’ll adjust the dial near Mt. Shasta Lookout to reduce those high-frequency levels that aren’t so great for wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for the Reptile Queens and don’t forget Challenge #4—Don’t Be a Stranger—where you’ll need to spot another lizard hiding somewhere along the Quail Trail or near Spirit Cave.
The real treasure hunt comes with the Decoder mission. Tom Lizard (voiced by Piper Curda’s co-star? No, wait—Piper Curda voices Mabel herself!) has left behind a secret message, but you’ll need to find the decoder keys first. Scout the area across from Mt. Whitney Lookout for Tom Lizard signage, then check the radio set perched on a table near Mt. Shasta Lookout for two crucial keys. And if you look up while exploring Ahwahnee Camp Circle, you’ll spot a figure of Mabel herself watching over the action from atop the beaver dam.
Once you’ve conquered all the challenges and returned your pencil, a Cast Member will reward your sleuthing with exclusive Hoppers-themed stickers featuring Tom and Mabel declaring “Challenge Complete!” It’s the perfect souvenir to stick on your park bag alongside any Tom Lizard merch you might have already scooped up from DisneyStore.com or spotted on the Disney Parks Instagram.
Whether you’re climbing through the Mt. Lassen Lookout Ranger Headquarters or just soaking up the atmosphere at the Ahwahnee Camp Circle, this overlay brings a fresh layer of magic to one of the park’s most underrated corners. Just remember—it’s only here for a limited time, so grab your map and start exploring before these critters hop back to the big screen.
