Disney announced details about an all-new Coco attraction coming to Disney California Adventure at D23 2026. The ride, which was first teased last year, will open in Pixar Pier and represents the first Disney park attraction based on the beloved Pixar film.
The boat ride will pick up a year after the events of the original movie. You'll start in a "casa museo" celebrating Héctor Rivera's music, then join Miguel on a journey through his memories of the Land of the Dead. The Imagineers are drawing inspiration from classic dark rides like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion, with plans to use advanced Audio-Animatronics technology to bring the skeletal characters to life.

What makes this one accessible is that there's no height requirement, so families with younger kids can all experience it together. The attraction will lean into the music, emotion, and family themes that made the original film resonate with so many people, and Imagineers are working closely with Pixar to weave in elements from the upcoming Coco 2.
Construction is already underway in the area near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier, next to the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. While we don't have an opening date yet, you can expect more details to come as the project moves forward.
